My insides

This project explores home as a site of both unease and safety. I build miniature sets and sculptural objects by hand, then merge, cut, layer, and rephotograph them. The sculptural nature of the works functions as both acts of home-making and reconstructions of memory. I’m interested in the stories we tell ourselves, the things we do and the masks we wear to create a sense of belonging. My images are deliberately whimsical and tongue-in-cheek, evoking the childlike quality of early memories. On closer inspection, there is always something slightly off. My work lives in that contradiction: safety laced with threat, intimacy leaning into tension, control and vulnerability. This juxtaposition reflects how innocence and threat can coexist in the same space. Exploring boundaries between body and object, the human form serves as object, subject and site of observation.
